Internet Manifesto

My name is Cyrus. I am 18 years old at the time of writing. I’ve been on the internet since 2015. It doesn't seem like that long ago, but its been around 8 years!

8 years. 2,588 days.

It’s been a long journey.

I was unsupervised. I had to do it behind my parents' back, since they would get pissed if I had access to the outside world. I started on QuoteV, roleplaying with other strangers with our muses. I lived by some rules.

Do not give out your age.

You are not you.

You don't just roleplay as your muse; you roleplay as yourself.

I was ashamed to be my true self. I pretended to be someone else; not just a completely different person. Just a better version of me. Little did I know that I had DID. That explains why I HAD to go by a different name, why I felt like a different person, even in front of my family. I learned how to code on QuoteV.

BAck then I told everyone I was from a certain state I was actually from and still live in today. But I can't do that nowadays.

You talk about your favorite pizza place and you get doxxed.

I used to go on 4chan. I was THERE when they found Shia LaBeouf’s flag in the middle of fucking nowhere. I wish I could go back in time and shake the younger me's shoulders, tell that naive little girl to stay away and just watch AMVs on youtube like a normal kid. But I can't.

The internet nowadays is both more and less safe than it was. Use a VPN. Be careful.

These days i spent going through amino, QuoteV, 4chan. They gave me trauma i can never recover from. But god damn i had fun.

This is the mindset i have when it comes to the net nowadays; stop caring. Curate your experience. Make a neocities site! If you cant code, it okay! Make a space for you. Itll be amazing. I trust you!
